Last week we began a series of sound bites (morsels of truth) on parenting/grand-parenting based on Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. Using the acrostic TRAINS, we're discussing from MD to FD the (6) key elements necessary to raise up a child who can walk w/ God and thrive in life.

Last week we talked about the T - TIME and how critical it is we give our kids/grandkids both quality/quantity time if we're going to make a needed investment they require to become the person God created and called them to be. This AM, in light of our soon to be graduates, we're going to take a few minutes to discuss the idea of R - RESPONSIBILITY.

I'm just going to lay it out there. We're living in a day gross irresponsibility. It appears as if irresponsibility has become a civil right. It appears as if we're never to blame.

It goes like this - I have the right to be irresponsible but you don't have the right to hold me responsible - you do though have the right to flip the bill and clean up the mess I leave behind. I can live as I desire, do as I desire, believe as I desire - and if your beliefs align okay - otherwise butt out.

This irresponsibility claims that my rights are greater than your rights and my personal desires and appetites can infringe upon your life but I'm not subject to your issues.

LISTEN. Irresponsibility doesn't just impact you; it impacts everyone. It impacts your family, your church, your community, your country. Why? B/c all irresponsibility has to be shouldered by someone else. Someone always has to pay the bill and clean up the mess! (Camden and the dishes)
