"How To Recognize A Good Church"
Acts 2:40-47

Marilyn Voss, savant was supposed to be the most intelligent
woman in the world according to the Guinness Book of World
Records. Somebody read her this question - and you may have
thought about it yourself - "What's the difference between a pretty
woman and a beautiful woman and a gorgeous woman?" I'm sure
all of you have thought about that sometime in the past and may
have tried to differentiate between those, but what is the difference
between a pretty woman, a beautiful woman and a gorgeous
woman? A pretty woman turns the heads of teen-agers. A
beautiful woman turns the heads of grown men. A gorgeous
woman turns the heads of teen-age boys, grown men and women.
That's the difference between the three. We can differentiate
between gorgeous and beautiful and pretty women and all of that
but what about churches? Now a lot of times, people will ask me
or call the church and say, "Pastor, I'm moving to a certain city or
state and could you tell me a good church to attend? What church
would you recommend?"
What is a good church? Probably when you came here, you asked
your pastor or friend or searched around and asked about a good
church in the area. There are a lot of good churches around.
There are all kinds of churches around. All kinds of religions
around. So, when we ask that question, it is a good question. But
the answer that you get is very important and what you do with the
answer is more important, because discerning and defining a good
church is very important to your spiritual life. Now God did not do
this without a guide. In fact in the Word of God He has told us the
things we can look for in a good church. So if you are looking for a
