2 Timothy 4:3-4
Last Sunday we began a series entitled - Counterfeit w/ the intention of learning about and comparing the tenets of the Christian faith w/ those of other major religions/cults to see which of them might be true and which are false.
The intent of this series isn't to speak condescending or condemn another faith, but to clarify our differences and to put us on guard against any teaching contrary to the truth.
For the time will come when people will not put up w/ sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2 Timothy 4:3-4
The fact of the matter is every person who has ever lived has been faced w/ a terrific dilemma - Is there a God? And if there is a God (w/ 4200+ to choose from) which one is right? Do all roads lead to God or is there but one way?
We all understand that - every heart has a throne and every throne has a God... and all of us by default will place our faith in someone/something to sit on this thrown - even if that something is nothing.
But the Law of Non-Contradiction - something cannot be both true and untrue at the same time in the same context, demolishes the warped idea that all roads can lead to God. In fact, what we learn from this classic law of logic is that b/c every religion/cult has so many unique/contradictory beliefs - it's not that we can co-exist but rather - while we can all be all be wrong, we cannot all be right.
Meaning - All roads do not lead to God! All religious roads cannot end at the same destination. And so no matter how much we want to believe a ''co-exist'' bumper sticker can change the world, no matter how many PC speeches espousing tolerance are shared by pastors, presidents, popes, and kings - they're never going to change the reality that every religi ...
