Revival comes from two Latin words. ''Re'' means again. ''Vive'' means to live. So, revival means to live again.

I grew up with a fireplace in the home. I enjoyed watching the flames. However, somethimes the flames would die out and all I could see was coals and smoke. I either had to add fuel to the fire or fan the coals into flames again.

The same thing can happen to Christians. The flame dies out. The coals can lose their glow. About all the evidence we have that there was once a fire is that there is a little smoke showing.

This can happen to an individual, church, or a nation.

The nation of Israel experienced times of prosperity and times of poverty. America has a strong economy and then a weak economy. We turned to God after the Great Depression. We turned to God during World War 11. We turned to God after 911. However, when some time elapses, we settle back into our lethargic position.

What is the key to revival? The key to revival is the people of God. Are you a part of God's family? You are if you have been born again. The Bible tells us to ''examine ourselves to see if we be in the faith...'' Revival will not come outside the people of God.

1.THE PROBLEMS REFLECTED

1.There is the problem of pride.

People in need of humility are people who have a problem with pride. Israel was proud beyond justification. They thought that since they were the chosen people of God, they should be immuned from all problems. They weren't!

Proverbs 6:18 says, ''Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before stumbling.'' If we are not careful pride will lead us into the sin of presumption.

The story is told of a Texan who traveled about the country. Every time he saw a grand sight, he commented that Texas had something bigger and better.
