"The Power Of Marriages Made In Heaven," Pt. 2
Genesis 2:24-25

The earlier verses reminded us that those marriages that God puts
together bring us a helper, a uniqueness, a companion, but that is not all
that it brings and these verses will tell us more about marriages made in
heaven.

Genesis 2:

24. "For this reason a man will leave his father
and mother and be united to his wife, and
they will become one flesh.

25. The man and his wife were both naked, and
they felt no shame."

Some people say marriages are not made in heaven but I believe
that they are. And I believe that God gives us some principles about
marriages that are made in heaven. In this Scripture there are some of
those principles that God has enunciated. The Book of Genesis is so very
good about so many things because it means the Book of Beginnings. So
many things we find the beginnings of and they are carried throughout life
and throughout history and into eternity. One of the things that God set
early was the importance of marriage where He is engaged in the
process. When He is there then there are marriages that endure and we
can say that they are marriages that are made in heaven.

We have already given three principles that God has enunciated. I
want you to look at the fourth one today. Notice that a marriage that God
makes and brings together has a permanency about it. In verse 24, "For
this reason a man will leave his father and mother...." That word for leave
means to sever or to forsake. It means to move away. Now that mostly
means an attitude, it does not necessarily mean a location. When a man
and a woman become one and they are married, it means a leaving of a
father and a mother.
