1 Corinthians 15:4a
Our study brings us to chapter 15 where we are reminded that Jesus died, was buried, was raised from the dead, and was seen hundreds of people. Since Paul describes this message as one of first importance, we are slowing down the pace a good bit to share a 4-part mini-series within this series. We are focusing on Jesus being DEAD, BURIED, RAISED, and SEEN.
Today we will look at the second of those messages in what may be described as the most overlooked part of the gospel, we see here that after He was DEAD, but before He was RAISED and SEEN, Christ was BURIED.

Christian funerals are a matter of duty. As we honor the deceased and comfort the survivors, both Biblical commands.
Christian funerals are also a matter of doxology. As we praise God with a worship is born out of a renewed awareness, that Christ, our conquering King, has defeated death.
But Christian funerals are also a matter of doctrine. Funerals bring us to a place of wonderful irony. We hear the sound of tears, yet we hear of a place where tears will be gone. We feel the anguish of soul. Yet we are reminded that there is coming a day when anguish itself will be banished.

Grave where is your sting?'' And along with Paul we say, ''Thanks be to God who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.''
Today, I want to take you to a funeral, or at least to the burial service. We're going ''graveside with the Son of God'' in 1 Corinthians 15:4, for the Scripture says that between the time Christ DIED and was RAISED, He was BURIED. And I pray that we will leave wi ...
