INTRO: Have you heard of a ''News Fast?''

Dr. Andew Weil writes: A news fast simply means opting out of watching the news on television, listening to it on the radio, reading newspapers, or following the news on the Internet for a few days or even a week at a time. I believe that taking periodic breaks from the news can promote mental calm and help renew your spirits. In this way, the anxiety and overstimulation catalyzed by the media may be minimized, and your body will function better.

A number of studies have shown that images and reports of violence, death and disaster can promote undesirable changes in mood and aggravate anxiety, sadness and depression, which in turn can have deleterious effects on physical health. Even frequent worrying can reduce immunity, making you more vulnerable to infection.

In other words, there is so much BAD news being foisted on us by the media that we need to take a NEWS FAST. Well today, we're going to get to some good news. REVIEW - We have contrasted the good news to fake news. We have looked at the bad SIDE to the good news. Now it's finally time for the good news itself.



I. THE GOSPEL IS GOOD BECAUSE IT'S HISTORICALLY DEMONSTRABLE

Acts 17:31 ''God has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.''

It doesn't matter how GOOD some ''good news'' sounds - if the news isn't also TRUE then it isn't good.

EXAMPLE: On Facebook I received a ''friend'' request from a guy I knew in college. I accepted. Almost immediately he messaged me with a little chit chat. Then, he told me how he had recently won some money in an online prize thing and when he checked the list of names of other winners, my name was on there too. All I had to do was to click on this link that he so kindly provided to me in the message and I could find out what I won. Good news, right? Wrong. Scam. Did I click on that link? NO. I asked my new friend some specif ...
