INTRODUCTION: I'll tell you something about our daughter. When she was school age, every year at the start of a new grade, we would take her to the school and walk her to each one of her classes. She wanted to know, IN ADVANCE, where she was supposed to be and when. She wanted to know and, if possible, meet her teachers. She wanted to familiarize herself with the new environment and routine. Why? Because she was nervous and needed some REASSURANCE. It didn't remove ALL of the anxiety of the first day of school, but it helped a lot. You've probably done that too. A lot of schools have an open house each year for that very reason.

I want to introduce this sermon series today doing something similar. I want to give you a brief walk-through of where we're going and what we'll be talking about. Why? Because some of you might be a little bit anxious about the whole series. The 3rd Sunday of January is national Sanctity of Human Life Sunday. Preachers are encouraged to preach pro-life sermons on that day. But with a subject like the sanctity of human life, I am reluctant to try to deal with it in one sermon. The subject is too complex, multi-dimensional, emotionally charged and for some people ''triggering.'' In fact, while the sanctity of human life DOES have implications for abortion, the sanctity of life has many other implications and applications as well.
