Introduction: We come now to our final message in the KNIT series. We have travelled a difficult road together. We've taken a deep dive into the meaning of the phrase, the ''Sanctity of Human life.'' The idea that life is sacred stems from the implications of our being created in the image of God. We've talked about the harm done to women by abortion and the forgiveness and healing that are available through Christ. We heard a testimony from a woman who was spiritually healed through the ''Surrendering the Secret'' study for post-abortive women. Today I want to say three things about life, specifically: 1) When human life begins, 2) When spiritual life begins, 3) and when the ABUNDANT life begins.
I. HUMAN LIFE BEGINS AT CONCEPTION
Lk. 1:41 ''The baby leaped in her womb''
Lk.2:12 ''You will find a baby, wrapped in clothes and lying in a manger.''
No one who considers a preborn child a full-fledged person can rationally defend abortion's legality, unless they also defend legalizing the killing of other human beings. After all, every argument for abortion that appeals to a mother's inconvenience, stress, and financial hardship can be made just as persuasively about her 12-year-old, her husband, or her parents. In many cases older children are MORE expensive and place greater demands on their mother than an unborn child.
As far as the Biblical data we simply note that the same word is translated ''baby'' in the New Testament for both a born child and a preborn child. The word is ''brephos.'' You can see this for yourself by going to ''Bible Gateway'' online, clicking the down arrow for ''versions'' and choosing the ''Mounce Reverse-interlinear New Testament'' or ''MOUNCE'' for short.
