This AM we're celebrating/honoring our Legacy Builders ministry under the leadership of Mr. Dick Bowley. Each year around this time, we gather to remember that who we are as a church is b/c of the many wonderful people who've gone before us to serve/honor the Lord w/ they're lives thru the fellowship and ministries of FBCPTC. It's also a time to remind us that we all are part of this heritage and legacy - and that we all share in what will be passed on to the generations who will come behind us.

The theme/focus today is on the phrase - As You Go... You likely recognize that this idea is derived from the Great Commission passage in Matthew 28 - where Jesus charged His disciples to carry on the mission of sharing the Good News of His life, death, burial, and resurrection to the world so that all people might be rescued from the wages of sin and brought into a saving relationship w/ God. So, Jesus was charging His disciples to leave a legacy of the Gospel.

Now don't miss this! B/c they left a Gospel legacy, it was passed on to the next generation, who passed it on to the next generation - and now some 2,000 yrs later, b/c someone spoke up and lived out their faith, we've been entrusted w/ the Gospel w/ the responsibility to pass on our faith to those who'll come behind us.

I'm reminded of the faith heritage of one of the great men of God in the 20th-21st century. In 1854, a 17 yr. old boy received a visit from his S.S. teacher, Edward Kimball, b/c he was concerned for the boy's spiritual condition. In their meeting, Kimball led D. L. Moody to the Lord. Moody would become one of the great evangelists in his day sharing the gospel w/ 100+ mil. people over his lifetime. In particular, Moody would go on to influence a man named J. Wilbur Chapman who also would become an evangelist. B/c Chapman took up his place in the Gospel, he ended up having a great influence on a young baseball player, Billy ...
