Ten Words You Ought Never Forget
Mike Stone
Genesis 1:1
A veteran pastor was giving some advice to a young preacher. He said, ''Get the attention of the congregation by telling them, 'I spent many of the best years of my life in the arms of another man's wife...She was my mother!'''
The young preacher tried it and said, ''I spent many of the best years of my life in the arms of another man's wife...'' Unfortunately, he had forgotten to tell his wife about the illustration and at that point, she ran from the sanctuary in tears. He said, ''And right now I can't remember what her name was!''

These ten words are foundational and fundamental.
They are Biblical and basic.
You don't need a BA or PhD to understand what they are saying.
But you do need F-A-I-T-H to embrace them.
I find 3 incredible truths in these 10 simple words.
1. Creation had a distinct start (In the beginning)
These three words answer the question of WHEN?
I mean, how old is the earth? WHEN was it created?
Theories on this question abound and they range from the Biblically plausible to the Biblically absurd.
Theistic evolution
Gap theory
Day-age theory
Apparent age theory
Punctuated or Interrupted 24-hour theory
Young earth, 6 literal days
If you watch the Discovery Channel, National Geographic, or even the History Channel you will get the clear impression that the universe was created on a Thursday afternoon about 2:15 some 4.5 billion years ago.
Is ''when'' even an important issue? Does it even matter?
I believe the answer is an unequivocal ''yes'' for 3 reasons:
A. The importance of this timing
By placing ''In the beginning'' at the beginni ...
