Truth You Can't Live Without

John 1:14
You can't live without water. But you can live without knowing and believing that the chemical name for water is H2O.
You can't live without food. But you can live without knowing and believing anything about agriculture or farming.
You can't live sunshine. If the sun quit shining, we'd all die. But you could live without knowing and believing that sunlight travels about 186,000 miles per second...or that our sun is about 27 million degrees at its core.
But there is one truth that you absolutely must believe in order to live. And by ''live'' I mean
- Life as described by Jesus in John 11 - Whoever lives and believes in My shall never die
- Live forever...Live eternally
- To keep living even after you've died
- Life on the other side of the grave
And the TRUTH that leads to that kind of LIFE is found in today's text from the gospel of John. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)
God coming in the flesh. The Latin for ''flesh'' is ''carne.''
So, Bible students reference this as the INCARNATION.
As John begins His gospel record, he gets right to the point.
There's no bloodline, no Bethlehem and no baptism.
There's no stable, not star, and no shepherds.
Matthew and Luke write about His birth historically, John focuses on it doctrinally, and we see a truth you can't live without.
1. A testimony you must embrace (the Word became flesh)
There may be some things I share today that cause some of you to disagree. But understand, when I talk about you embracing a testimony, I don't mean MY TESTIMONY. I'm talking about the testimony of a true apostle as recorded in the Word of God.
