1 Peter 1:1-12
Illus. Have you ever been somewhere and felt like you didn't belong? Have you ever felt like you didn't fit in? Some of you are like ''Yeah, I called that high school.'' High School can be an awkward time for people and the only thing worse is maybe middle school. We all know what its like to not feel like we fit somewhere. It can be discomforting... unless your not supposed to fit there... because you fit somewhere else altogether... then it can be comforting.
This morning we begin a series in the book of 1 Peter and it is written to a people that probably felt out of place in the world. They were suffering. They were being mistreated for their faith. So Peter writes these believers to encourage them how to live in light of this very fact... they are living where they don't belong. They are living life in exile. They feel out of place, because they ARE.

Peter knew what it was like to watch Jesus suffer, and out of fear not even be willing to identify yourself as knowing Him. But Peter also knew what it was like to experience life in the fullness of the Spirit and to suffer for Jesus.
