Holiness in Exile (2 of 9)
Series: Life in Exile
Josh Malone
1 Peter 1:13-21
If you are a Christ-follower this morning understand something God cares very much for how we live in the here and now. Life between now and Heaven matters to God. The dash matters. Life until the return of Christ matters. God cares how you live.
God doesn't save us and then simply say ''See ya in Heaven! Try not to hurt yourself!'' No. God takes great interest in our lives. And He has a plan for our lives. We learned last week that as believers we are elect exiles chosen out of this world, that belong to God, and this world is not our home. We are passing through.
Heb. 13:14- For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come.
Last week and Today
We learned that Peter wrote this letter to Christians who were living in a situation where the world around them was hostile to their faith. They were suffering various trials, difficulties, and persecutions.
Today Peter is going to start getting very practical in terms of how we live in light of God's saving work. In light of the fact God has saved us, in light of the fact we have a living hope, an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, unfading that is kept for us and we are guarded for it... in light of the fact that the gospel that the prophets searched for and the angels long to peek into has been announced to us... in light of all this... how do we live?
