Beautiful Living (4 of 9)
Series: Life in Exile
Josh Malone
1 Peter 2:11-25
How do we live in this world as citizens of another place? That's the questions believers in Christ face. The book of 1 Peter teaches us that believers are not of this world, we have been made the people of God and now we represent Him in this world. Last week we talked about what it looks like to be the church, this week we are going to look at what it looks like to be citizens here while citizens somewhere else.
Illus.- Citizenship- If there were ever a passionate people about their homeland its Texans. I've never met a state so proud of their state. Don't Mess with Texas. Their Texas citizenship MEANS SOMETHING...--- As believers in Christ our CITIZENSHIP IN HEAVEN, our not being of this world, should MEAN SOMETHING to us. It should change how we live.
Phil. 3:20-21- But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, [21] who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.
The Bible teaches our lives should be full of good deeds, should be beautiful, should glorify God and point people to Christ as we represent Him. ---- If you are a believer this morning you are called to live a morally beautiful life. Your life is to be attractive. It is to be alluring to those that do not know Christ. Our lives are not to drive people away from the gospel, nor keep them neutral, but entice them towards the gospel. --- If you are not a Christian... it is my hope today that you'll see that what God asks for Christians is really good for the world. He asks us to live in a way that people will really have nothing to wrestle with but the truth.
