Intro: Knowledge and Choices--- Right Choices are rooted in Right knowledge. What you KNOW helps you make the right choice, if you choose based in true knowledge. I didn't walk up to Kristi on the street and say excuse me, we've never met. Let's get married and have a family. Now, if you did that and it worked for you congrats. I'm so glad to hear it. But more than likely you got to know the person first. Are they a Christian? Do we want the same things in life? Do I love this person? Do we want to spend the rest of our lives together? --- Once you have this knowledge then you can make the choice of marriage. --- This is just how life works.

When it comes to suffering we may ask how can this person go through that and have joy? How can they have peace in the midst of that storm. It largely comes down to two things... Who and What they know... and then what they choose. You can know things and still choose otherwise. But the Bible commands our joy, even in the midst of suffering... and part of the battle for joy is what you KNOW and part of it is based on that by God's grace what you CHOOSE to believe and do.

This morning in 1 Peter we continue looking at suffering, in particular the exact suffering being spoken of here is PERSECUTION. There is application to be made to all suffering but the key context is persecution for faith in Christ Jesus.

1 Peter 4:12-19- [12] Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. [13] But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. [14] If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
