1. An African woman who had heard for the first time, from a missionary, the story of Christ and the Cross, exclaimed, ''I always knew that there must be such a man as that!''
2. In our text, Paul spoke of the ''gospel.'' The gospel is the good news that there is Someone who can save us from our sin and give us a new life. It is the good news that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.
3. James Chalmers, the famed missionary to New Guinea, declared, ''I have had twenty-one years' experience with the natives. I have seen the semi-civilized and the uncivilized; I have lived with the Christian native, and I have lived, dined, and slept with the cannibals. For at least nine years of my life, I have lived with the savages of New Guinea . . . wherever there had been the slightest spark of civilization in the southern seas it has been because the Gospel has been preached there.''
4. We must never estimate the power of the gospel to touch any heart and any people. It is a glorious message to proclaim to all people. It is a wonderful message to present to every person. It is, as Paul declared in Ephesians 1:13, ''the gospel of your salvation.''
5. In our text, we see the Apostle Paul speaking of hiding the Gospel. Let's look closer at what he said. First, notice with me that he speaks of:
