"The Only Thing That Lasts Forever"
(I Peter 1:23-25)
23 For you have been born again not of
seed which is perishable but
imperishable, that is, through the living
and abiding Word of God.
24 For,
ALL FLESH IS LIKE GRASS,
AND ALL ITS GLORY LIKE THE FLOWER OF
GRASS
THE GRASS WITHERS,
AND THE FLOWER FALLS OFF,
25 BUT THE WORD FO THE LORD ABIDES
FOREVER.
And this is the word which was
preached to you.
While traveling some time ago, we came to the city of Mainz, West
Germany. According to the travel guide, the Gutenberg Bible was kept
there, and I'd always wanted to see this first press that was used for
mass production of the Word of God.
We went into this museum-like building, up to the second floor and
there in. a ro-m by itself, sealed in a glass case, was this opened
Bible. I looked at this Book, hundreds of years old, which had
recently sold for I believe three million dollars. It was awesome to
look at it and realize that this man was inspired of God to come up
with the invention of this printing press and this tremendous release
that he gave to the world. Through his work the common man could have
the scriptures to study, this life-changing, inspiring Word of God.
For the first time since Christ ascended into heaven, everyone could
have the privilege of having God's Word in his own home.
As I thought about that in relationship to this scripture I thought how
precious is the Word of God. Men died for it, and still do. Millions
of people around the world would love to have a Bible just like yours.
Some men in our church are collecting new and used Bibles to send to

Uganda because Idi Amin had killed many of the Christian leaders and
burned all the Bibles they could find. Now, thousands of Bibles are
going to Uganda and being distribute ...
