"Being Holy in an Unholy World"
(I Peter 1:16; John 17:13-18)
...because as it is written, "YOU SHALL
BE HOLY, FOR I AM HOLY.
(John 17:13-18) But now I come to Thee
and these things I speak in the world,
that they may have My joy made full in
themselves.
I have given them Thy word; and the world
has hated them, because they are not of
the world, even as I am n-ot of the world.
I do not ask Thee to take them out of the
world, but to keep them from the evil
on-e.
They are not of the world, even as I am
not of the world.
Sanctify them in the truth; Thy word is
truth.
As Thou didst send Me into the world, I
also have sent them into the world.
- Holiness is the call of God, who invites us to be holy.
- Holiness is the command of God. He tells us to be holy.
- Holiness is the choice of God. He has chosen that we be holy.
- Holiness is the character of God, because He is holy.
- Holiness is the commission of God, because He has commissioned us to
be holy.
It is very clear in the Bible that every person who says he is a
Christian is to live a holy life. Because of distortions in our day,
many times people read or hear about holiness and they get all kinds of
wrong ideas about what holiness really is. To some, it is wearing a
croc-s on a chain arou,nd th-e neck. To others, it is a backward collar,

or simple dress. But that is not what the Bible says about holiness.
Basically, a holy person is a one who is conscious of God, desiring to
be like God and to be controlled by Him in every way of life. Are you
holy?
You say, "Well, I'm doing pretty good. My lifestyle is pretty strong
and I like to feel that I'm a pretty good Christian.
Let me ask about sin in your life. The manifestations of sin are many.
