"WHEN A FAMILY MEMBER BECOMES A HOMOSEXUAL"
I Corinthians 6:9
My family messages have basically been built around crises. One of these is
when a family member becomes a homosexual, or that relationship or lifestyle is
suddenly discovered. I want to address that subject today, and hopefully it
will be redemptive and helpful to us all in the body of Christ. I Corinthians
6:9:
.....OR DO YOU NOT KNOW THAT THE UNRIGHTEOUS SHALL NOT
INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD? DO NOT BE DECEIVED;
NEITHER FORNICATORS, NOR IDOLATORS, NOR ADULTERERS,
NOR EFFEMINATE, NOR HOMOSEXUALS,
NOR THIEVES, NOR THE COVETOUS, NOR DRUNKARDS, NOR
REVILERS, NOR SWINDLERS, SHALL INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD.
AND SUCH WERE SOME OF YOU; BUT YOU WERE WASHED;
BUT YOU WERE SANCTIFIED, BUT YOU WERE JUSTIFIED IN THE
NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST AND IN THE SPIRIT OF OUR GOD.
In Chuck Swindoll's magazine, there's a section called, "Questions And
Answers." In one issue, this question was addressed.
"One of our children has become involved in a gay
relationship. Recently, he asked to bring his
lover home to visit. -He wants us to accept him
with open arms. This has brought both disappoint-
ment and tension into our home. We believe such
activity is wrong, but do not know whether to
accept or refuse this person as a guest. We need
to know what to do."
That letter demonstrates some of the anxiety and the stress that is
introduced into thousands of homes when a family member is discovered or reveals
himself or herself as a homosexual. This series has sought to address crises in
the family. A few years ago, I would not have needed to have included this,
but there has been a significant change in the awareness of Americans.
