You were made for beholding GLORY. - You were made to behold something, really someone... greater than you. You were made to behold the glory of God. - You are made in God's image. - Your heart craves to worship, to give glory, and experience glorious things.

ILLUS. - It's why we love GLORIOUS MOMENTS. - It's why the Grand Canyon takes your breath away. It's why you stare at the ocean in wonder. It's why you can be captivated by the shape of a cloud or the color of a sunset. - It's why we will go WOW when we see someone score a TD, hit a buzzer beater, or knock a grand slam. - We love glorious things.

The most glorious thing in the universe is the glory of God Himself. God is GLORIOUS. He is weightier, more praise worthy, more awe inducing than anyone or anything in the universe.

But... We are sinful. We are broken. We can't see God, we can't know God. We can't be in God's presence. In fact, God's glory could strike us dead. While we are made for glory... we need GRACE.

We love stories of healing, reconciliation, forgiveness. -We want people to forgive us. We want our spouse, kids, parents, friends, etc. to forgive us... because we know we need it. We want their kindness, their favor, their love. We want it when we don't even deserve it. We crave grace. But we NEED a much greater grace. We need the grace of God.

In John 1:14-18 this morning we are going to see that in Jesus Christ we can both behold the glory of God and experience the grace of God. If you have not surrendered your life to Christ, you need to today. In Him alone can you behold God's glory and experience God's grace.
