In recent weeks, some of our men, in talking to business associates,
even some who are not Christians, have observed that there's much
uncertainty in the world. They don't know what to do next, whether to
buy or sell. There's just an overwhelming sense of uncertainty.
When Jeanette and I were talking recently, she said, "You know
Jim, there was a time when I felt so certain about everything in the
world, I felt like the United States was so strong and powerful, and
we were removed from everything else going on in the world, I don't
have that feeling anymore. I'm not afraid, I just don't have the same
feeling of certainty, that we could handle everything, that I used to
have,"
That is, I believe, a consensus among people today. There is an
uncertainty around the world. Nobody has the answers. That kind of
uncertainty, you see, is the breeding ground for a man who says he has
all the answers, that he can control the world and bring peace out of a
world that is going to become increasingly chaotic to come.
What kind of man is this going to be? Who is he going to be?
Where is he coming from? Who will this man be who, endowed by Satan
with a supernatural power, will literally bring the world to worship
him? The Bible tells us there is going to be such a man, It gives
us some insights into that man.
In I John 2:18, John is writing to the church, When he is
writing, remember that the church is already coming under persecution.
Christians are being martyred for their faith and he is writing to tell
them about some things to come. In verse 18 he says,
"Little children, it is the last time, And as you have
heard that antichrist shall come, even now there are
many antichrists, whereby we know that it is the last
time."
