"Building A Boy Into A Godly Man"
Proverbs 1:10

When I told my wife what I was going to be preaching on today,
she said, "Oh Jim, don't do that." I said, "Hon, why?" She said,
"Because our boy is not grown yet!" I realized that we've become
very vulnerable when we preach on how it ought to be when sometimes
the model you see may not always be what it ought to be. I also
have sense enough'to know that God's called me to preach His Word.
Whether I'm living up to it completely or you are, God calls us to
His Word. So, I'm responsible to preach you the Word. Though my
boy or my daughters or my wife or myself may disappoint you at
times, and we will, because we're human and we sin and we blow it,
and you'll know it when we do a lot of times. We're fellow-pilgrims
and we're raising our children. We're struggling and we don't have
all the answers. But we do have some guidelines and we're trying and
we're trusting.

men. When I say an ungodly man, I don't mean he's the worst man in
town. I'm just saying that without Jesus Christ as his Savior and
the Lord of his life, he's ungodly because he doesn't have God in
control of his life and in his heart. There's just two kinds of
people - the saved and the lost. Therefore, for a boy to become a
godly man, he's got to come to know Jesus as his Savior and in
coming to know Jesus as his Savior and Lord of his life, he has to
come to know the instructions in the Word of God. Parents are
instructed to teach their boys so they can become godly men. Not
only in profession but in possession and lifestyle to become men
of God.
Let's look at the Word of God in Proverb ...
