Back in The Game

John 21:1-11
Meeting, trusting, and following Jesus Christ is THE most life-changing event that can happen to a human being. It's not just membership in a church, it's not simply about behavior modification, and it is not simply about studying the Bible; it is becoming a NEW CREATION. The Bible tells us that some of the things in our old life will pass away and that, because of our re-creation or incarnation, all things are new. That is when Christ gives meaning, hope, PURPOSE, forgiveness, and saves our soul. He then gives us a new life to live and a task to complete. What is that task? To carry the gospel to those who live in darkness. Be the light, carry the light, share the light, and if we don't do that, nothing else matters much.
In the American Church culture, we seem to do well when we first come to Christ. We'll 'charge hell with a water pistol', share what has happened to us with friends, and we'll let everyone know what Jesus has done for us. Sadly, it seems that the further we get from the initial experience, the less our light seems to shine. It should be reversed, but you and I know people (perhaps have even been the people) who once had a hot heart for God and fulfilling His mission for us, but now not so much. Honestly, it's almost like, 'we're on the team, but we are satisfied to sit on the bench.' Or it could be that did something which put us there.
When you play on a sport's team, you do everything you can to get ''IN'' the game because it is only when you are in the game that you help.
In Christianity, attending church isn't always an indication of being 'in the game,' although not attending, might mean you're not even on the bench' or a part of the team. Follow Christ today, get on His team!!
