The Christian has a faith that is sound. We are sound in our faith historically. We’re sound in our faith experience. We’re sound in our faith experimentally. We’re sound in our faith philosophically. We’re sound in our faith scientifically. We’re sound in our faith psychologically. We are sound in our faith in every way that you could think or ask. The Christian faith is sound in every way. Now the tragedy is, there are a lot of people who don’t know what they believe so that they can be sound. And if you don’t know what you believe, you’re liable to believe anything.

I have found through the years of being a pastor, that probably I have taken too much for granted about what people know about the Lord and about what they believe. Therefore, it has been my intent in all my preaching not only to preach, but also to teach, in order that we might bring sound doctrine to the people of God.

Somebody says, “Oh, it doesn’t make any difference what you believe, as long as you believe in something.” That is a terrible statement to make. It makes all the difference what you believe, because what you believe determines what you are. We believe in the one true God. We believe that every other god is no god. We believe there is only one God. Any other god is a false god. There is only one God with Whom mankind has to do, and that’s the God of the Bible.

Now, how in a thirty-minute message can I talk about God who is so great? It’s nearly impossible. I feel a little bit like George Washington Carver, that great black scientist, who came to a time in his life where he got down on his knees at four o’clock in the morning, which was his habit, and he said, “Lord, tell me about yourself.” He said God said to him, “I can’t tell you about myself, that’s too much. You wouldn’t under-stand.” He said, “Well, Lord, tell me about the universe.” And He said, “I can’t tell you about the universe, that’s too much. You wouldn’t understan ...
