Romans 15 and 16
Today, we conclude our series All Things New, and by so doing conclude our time in Romans. Today we are looking at the last two chapters. Much of the last chapter is Paul saying HI to other believers. In these last couple of chapters you see the family dynamics in the body of Christ. Paul calls them brother, he seeks their prayers, and help.
I think it's important that we keep in mind that the church is a FAMILY.
Every family has its quirks.- Things that make them... THEM. Every family is a little different. Families can have a weird uncle, an eccentric aunt. Listen, if you don't think there are ANY odd people in your family its likely due to the fact... that YOU are the odd one.
But Families have more in COMMON and more IMPORATANT things in common than they have not in common. - They have the family name, DNA, or adoption. They have shared memories, shared loved ones shared experiences.
It's the same way in the body of Christ ... we have way more in common, more important things in common than we have different.
I'm 15-20 years older than some of the adults in this room. I'm also 15 to 50 years younger than some of the adults in this room. - It'd be weird if we all liked all the same stuff. - BUT we have a commonality in Christ. What binds all of us is DEEPER than our differences.
Here's my point... today's text and this message is going to remind us that we are family and that we need to stay focused on what matters. If we stay focused on what matters we can fulfill our purpose. ?
Romans 15:5-9- 5 May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.
8 For I tell you that Chris ...
