Most of us have been caught in embarrassing situations, haven't we? Paul wrote to Timothy to remind him:

2 Timothy 1:8 Do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, or of me his prisoner. Instead, join with me in suffering for the Gospel, by the power of God.

When our youngest daughter was in high school, she was invited to a camp in Mississippi. Rick Reeves was the coach at Mississippi State University and Rick was the coach when Rodny Harden was on the team at Liberty University. Anyway, on Sunday morning we searched for a nearby church to worship.

This was before smart phones and before most churches had websites. So, we got up early and just started driving and looking. We finally found a nice-looking church building and their sign read, ''We are a non-denominational church.''

I don't remember the name of the church, but it was a large church with multiple services and we got there just as one of them was beginning. So far, so good! The worship leader had us stand to sing - and we sat down about an hour later! During those sixty-five minutes we sang a grand total of three songs. Have you ever sung the song, ''I Could Sing of His Love Forever?'' I thought we were gonna! I'm kidding. It was very good, very touching. That church had multiple instruments, flashing lights, graphics on the screen ahead of their time, and they had an older woman who waved a flag!

We clapped our hands, jumped up and down, shouted ''Amen!'' and ''Halelujah!'' and ''Praise the Lord!'' Honestly, I was worn out. Our daughter, who had played basketball the day before for eight hours said, ''I'm exhausted!'' Then the pastor preached for an hour! After two-plus hours, I suggested we leave and we did.

What I didn't know until later was that another set of parents from the basketball camp also attended the same service! Later that afternoon, the husband sat beside us to visit. ...
