A Disciple . . . Serves along the Way (4 of 4)
Series: The Journey, becoming a Disciple of Jesus

Acts 8:26-40
Outline of Acts 8:26-40 (Philip served along the way)
1. A Call to the Desert (8:26)
2. Not Far from the Kingdom (8:27-28)
3. Getting in God's Way (8:29-35)
4. On His Way Rejoicing (8:36-40)
Introduction: A disciple (1) takes the road less traveled, (2) does not become distracted, (3) bears spiritual fruit, and (4) serves along the way. Matthew 28:19-20, ESV

Think of the times we meet at the church building as ''preparation,'' ''training,'' and while we serve one another in various ways, we are ''in training'' here to serve others along the way of our normal everyday life. This is how Jesus modeled making disciples, as he went about his day he encountered people who he served and conversed with. He wants us to do the same. ''As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.'' John 20:21, NIV
Every believer can serve others, make a difference in someone's life for Christ, and be involved in the ''process'' of making disciples. Paul explained how believers are individual members of the body of Christ and that each member is important to the health of the entire body. He said, 4 Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; 5 and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; 6 and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. 7 To eac ...
