Today, we continue w/ the second week of our new series, ''All Things New.'' - This series comes along at a good time for us. This is a good re-focus series as we enter the fall season and then the holiday season, both ripe with opportunities to reach people and make an impact in our community. - We are here to reach people, amen?!
We are striving to continually become a NEW NP, we want to reach NEW PEOPLE... and that means we got to do some NEW THINGS.
The most important thing though is that we be a NEW KIND OF PEOPLE. - That's what I want to talk about today as we continue a new series called All Things New. Today, we see what the new people the gospel is shaping us into looks like... how we act, engage with one another, treat others.
Our culture is desperate for a picture of a BETTER way to live, a better way to treat others, a better way to do life and community. We have a responsibility as those who are transformed by the gospel... to be different. To show a different way. To be a NEW KIND OF PEOPLE and community.
Rom. 12:9-21- 9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. 10 Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. 11 Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.
14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. 17 Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. 19 Beloved, never avenge yourselves, ...
