All Things New- As those saved by grace through faith, as those who are more than conquerors... as those who have been RAISED TO WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE - How are we to live? The new life we have in Christ... what does that look like? How does it affect our relationship with others, with one another, how we live and make choices? - That's what this series is about... it's about living out the NEWNESS of life that we have been saved into.
Jesus doesn't just save people FROM something but TO something.
ILLUS. - Drowning- Saved from the water... to the land.
The last section of Romans is about the new life that you've been saved TO.?
To that point, today I want to talk to you about being Moved by Mercy from Romans 12:1-8.
ILLUS.- What MOVES YOU? - Maybe you get emotionally moved by Hallmark movies, or maybe its war stories. Maybe music does it for you. The arts have a way of doing that. - But being moved emotionally doesn't always equal movement in life, in growth, in maturity. - Today, I want to talk about being moved in the right direction, as in being MOTIVATED.
Good coaches are good motivators, so are other great leaders. They have a way of getting us moving in the right direction with passion. - Great teams, great companies, they are led by these kinds of people. - Christians who grow spiritually and live out their Christian life in the way God intends... are MOTIVATED or MOVED in the right direction by the gospel.
The last section here or Romans is all about living in light of the gospel, or being motivated by the gospel. The gospel changes everything. The mercy and grace shown us in the gospel should move us to live different, to see things different... it should move us toward some things... toward the life God intends for us.
