1 Timothy 3:6
We are entering into a brand-new sermon series called Home Room and, in this series, we plan on firming up the foundations of our faith and at the same time answer some of the difficult questions that are asked about God.
We have heard in recent news of some prominent Christians and worship leaders that are supposedly ''losing their faith'' and voicing it publicly. The issue with popular people speaking out about the struggles in their faith publicly can cause a ripple effect of doubt in their sphere of influence and in the Christian community.
FAME AND FOUNDATIONS
There are 2 issues I see here: fame and foundations.
Some people are very talented. Their talent can cause them to rise to popularity quickly. In the case of a person who becomes popular in the pop music world, for instance, they may be too young and too immature to handle all that attention, fame, and money. But in the case of a Christian, one who has confessed Christ as their Savior and Lord, and has committed themselves to being an active part in what God is doing through the church, it is so important that these men and women have a foundation of the truth and are convinced of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ before they are put in the spotlight.
Paul told Timothy to be careful who he raises up in the church.
1 Timothy 3:6 A leader must not be a new believer. If he is, he might become proud. Then he would be judged just like the devil.
ALL FEELINGS ARE JUSTIFIED
We live in a day and age that all our struggles and all our stuff can be aired on social media and talked about publicly. There are groups of people with all kinds of issues that are finding others with similar issues on social media to agree with them and to somehow ''justify'' their feelings. Most of the issues that manifest as doubts in the lives of people concerning their faith come from that battle zone of the mind where ...
