As we study the Gospels and we learn of the earthly ministry of Jesus, we can see that He was ON MISSION to accomplish the plan that God the Father had for Him. Jesus knew Who He was, where He came from and where He was going. He knew the mission He had to accomplish while here on earth.

John 6:38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.

Luke 19:10 for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.

That is the purpose of our sermon series ON MISSION that we would experience that SHIFT in our hearts from living life for ourselves to living it for Him and be those who have a heart not just for the church but also for those who are lost.

The religious leaders of Jesus' day always tried to stump Him. They desired to catch Him in His own words that they might arrest Him and silence Him. It was the Pharisees, the Sadducees and the Scribes who all had a problem with Jesus. The truth that He spoke and the authority in which He spoke it astounded those that heard Him. The miracles that He did and the way that He did them caused so much controversy. Jesus was upsetting the religious system of those days.

Jesus did not come to fight with people, but to show them the heart of the Father, not to teach them to keep the law, but to show them the flaws in their own religious system and to reveal the Truth - that in all our human striving, no one could ever be perfect, so God made a way for us to be justified without having to perfectly keep the law, by putting our faith in the One who could and did keep the Law and obey the Father perfectly - Jesus.
