The Whisper of God (4 of 4)
Series: Can You Hear Me Now?

John 16:12
Last week we learned that there are many ways that God speaks to us. The word VOICE in the Greek is phone (pronounced fo-nay):
SOUND
Sometimes the voice of the Lord is like a sound or a tone (like that of musical instruments) that resonates in our spirits what the Lord is saying.
- Sometimes it's the soothing sound of His peace,
- it's the sound of assurance (you are safe with Him), or
- the sound of hope (He is a Good Father), or
- the sound of His love for us (the height, depth, width, and length).
- At other times, it's the sound of danger or warning,
- and at other times it's the sound of the call to pray or the sound of instruction to array ourselves for battle,
- and at other times, it's the sound of Victory.
VOICE
Sometimes the voice of the Lord is plain. There are times that He speaks to us plainly and specifically. His voice is the sound of uttered words.
SPEECH
The Lord speaks in languages that are understood by His children. A foreign language they will not understand. A baby in the womb knows her mom's voice and when the time comes for her to be delivered, that baby knows her mom's voice and a stranger's voice, she would not give herself to.
We learned that the Root Word of VOICE means several things:
The voice of the Lord is sometimes Him shedding light on our path to direct us and His will COMES INTO view.
The voice of the Lord brings direction to our walk, not everything is fully recognizable, but we see growth on the pathway, and we are bearing fruit. This brings us confidence that we are listening to the voice of the Lord.
The voice of the Lord lifts the fog. There is no vagueness, there is no confusion. We can see clearly.
His Voice is Within
None of us get it perfectly, but there is a knowing as followers of Jesus that we are hearing His voice because the Holy Spirit who lives in us is causing t ...
