Numbers 9:21
Today's message is ''Our vision for growth and generosity.'' We love our facility, but we don't plan on being here forever. Like the Israelites that had come out of Egypt and through the Red Sea, they had to set up camp on the way toward the Promised Land. God had been directing them with a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. When the cloud moved, they too had to move.
Numbers 9:21 So it was, when the cloud remained only from evening until morning: when the cloud was taken up in the morning, then they would journey; whether by day or by night, whenever the cloud was taken up, they would journey. 22 Whether it was two days, a month, or a year that the cloud remained above the tabernacle, the children of Israel would remain encamped and not journey; but when it was taken up, they would journey.
I believe we too may have been camped here, but we believe the Lord is saying that He is getting ready to move us. We just need to be ready to go when the cloud starts moving! We too must progress toward our Promised Land. Everything that we do as individuals and corporately as a church should move us closer to the heart of Jesus and His promises for our lives. He is our Promised Land.
Even some 700 years after Israel had entered into their promised land, they had gone through some ups and downs with God because of their disobedience. In Isaiah chapter 54, God sends an encouraging word to Israel now in a feeble state from being in Babylonian captivity. He told Israel:
Isaiah 54:2 ''Enlarge the place of your tent; Stretch out the curtains of your dwellings, spare not; Lengthen your cords And strengthen your pegs. 3 ''For you will spread abroad to the right and to the left. And your descendants will possess nations And will resettle the desolate cities. (NAS)
God was saying to them, I'm preparing you for growth. This word that God gave them of enlargi ...
