Psalm 27:7
Psalm 27:7 Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me. 8 When You said, ''Seek My face,'' My heart said to You, ''Your face, Lord, I will seek.'' 9 Do not hide Your face from me; Do not turn Your servant away in anger; You have been my help; Do not leave me nor forsake me, O God of my salvation.
Seeking the face of God. Why the face of God? Why not the hand of God (wanting God to move powerfully in our lives)? The face is the place of expression. It is the expression of a person's heart. It is the place of relationship. God desires for us to seek His face in order to learn more of Him and to grow in intimacy with Him.
From some perspectives, seeking the Lord doesn't seem to fit the model of Christianity that some believe that God is completely sovereign and anything that happens in our relationship with God could only come from what He does in the relationship. It's almost like we have no responsibility. But I differ. In Paul's letter to the Ephesians, he says that the relationship between Christ and the church is like the relationship between a husband and his wife. So, I ask you wives, in a marriage relationship, does a husband have responsibilities? YES! Now let's hear it from the husbands: in a marriage relationship, does a wife have responsibilities? Absolutely Yes! The same holds true for us in our relationship with God. If man has no responsibilities, we don't need obedience or consecration or prayer or fasting or seeking the Lord or even preaching the gospel. The truth is WE DO HAVE RESPONSIBILITIES! There are scriptures upon scriptures that show us that God responds when we do our part. For example:
''if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land'' (2 Chron. 7:14).
