What is a lie? It is to deliberately or intentionally say something that you know is not true. It is a statement given with the purpose of deceiving someone into believing something false.
Proverbs 12:17 Whoever speaks the truth gives honest evidence, but a false witness utters deceit.
GNB - When you tell the truth, justice is done, but lies lead to injustice.
A lie is really a coverup of the truth with intention to deceive. To hid the truth, we have to cheat or deceive others to fool them. Hiding the truth is harder than just letting the truth be known. To hide the truth people will: - Do things in the dark - Put on a disguise - Go home a different way - Use somebody else's name
Mark Twain - ''The difference between a person who tells the truth and tells a lie is that the liar's gotta have a better memory.'' A lie always comes back to haunt us because eventually the truth comes out in one way or another.
Background :1-17 When Isaac was about 140 years old and could not see he asked Esau to go hunt a wild animal and prepare him a meal so that he could bless him. Rebekah overheard the conversation and told Jacob to get two goats and that she would prepare Isaac's favorite meal. She then put Esau's clothes on Jacob so he would smell and feel like Esau.
