We continue our study of the book of Acts today with a most unusual passage. It's the story of a supernatural encounter that turns into a wrestling match in Acts 19:11-20. There's a Twitter feed known as The Wresting Pastor that links old school wrestlers to the frustrations pastors experience regularly. Again, these are wrestling moves that act out the frustrations pastors often feel. You're going to love these (it has little to do with the Scripture text). Pastor, I appreciate you taking two hours to give me clear, biblical counsel but I've decided to ignore it and do what I wanted to do anyway.

Four Instance of Magic in Acts

This is the fourth instance in our study of the book of Acts where the church runs up against people using magical powers.

1) Simon (Acts 8:9-13)

Simon serves as a warning of a counterfeit Christian believer.

''But there was a man named Simon, who had previously practiced magic in the city and amazed the people of Samaria, saying that he himself was somebody great. 10 They all paid attention to him, from the least to the greatest, saying, 'This man is the power of God that is called Great.' 11 And they paid attention to him because for a long time he had amazed them with his magic'' (Acts 8:9-11).
