Nehemiah 3:1-4:23
Adversity is a part of life. Nick Wallenda and his sister Lijana will attempt to make history tonight by walking a 1,300' tightrope 25 stories above Times Square. Aside from being an incredible feat if achieved, what makes this attempt extra special is that this will be the first time Lijana has performed since a near fatal fall back in 2017 when she and 4 others fell during a performance of the 8 person pyramid. So tonight in spectacular fashion, she and her brother will get back on the wire because that's what you do when you are a part of the famous Wallenda family. You get back up on the wire.
Christians will face adversity in life but we too get back up because that' what we do. In our text today, the Israelites faced adversity but they stood ready to fight if necessary while they continued their work of rebuilding the walls of the city of Jerusalem.
Life Application: ''Because you will face obstacles in following the Lord's will, you must be watchful and prayerful as you conduct your life before the Lord.''
The Work and the Workers (3:1-32)

Here is a sampling of those who were listed as participating in the rebuilding project. The High Priest (v.1), Fellow priests, Sons (v.3), Daughters (v.12), Goldsmiths (v.8), Perfume Makers, Priests from surrounding areas (v.22), Temple servants (v.26), Merchants (v.32), and Rulers (vv.9, 12).
A few principles about the work and the workers that have a parallel in the New Testament
1. Every believer has a role to fulfill in God's work from the religious and political leaders to the businessman and craftsman and the common man, people from every walk of life participated in the rebuilding effort. To his disciples, Jesus said, '' ...
