Introduction
1. Growing up I was a voracious reader and I still am today, but I really wasn't introduced to great books until I was in high school and I was assigned to read a novel by Charles Dickens. Even if you haven't read any of his books, without question, you have either seen a stage or a movie rendition of ''A Christmas Carol.'' It was a family tradition for our family to go down to the theater to see the stage presentation of this fantastic play. It is a timeless, classic, on the spirit of Christmas.
2. Yet, one tradition came to an unbelievable end for a school in Pennsylvania, in 2016, because of the most famous words in the entire story. It is toward the end of the play when the beloved Tiny Tim says, ''God bless us every one!'' Well, there were some school parents who didn't like God being mentioned in the play and they cried, ''Bah Humbug!'' and the fifth-grade production spanning forty-years at Centerville Elementary School was cancelled.[1]
3. Just when you think life and people can't get any crazier you find out that they can, but this does beg a question and I realize it assumes there is a God, but with that assumption, who would not want the blessing of God on their life, family, community, city, nation, or even the entire world? Can you think of anything greater that could happen to you or your loved ones than to know that the blessing and the favor of God rests upon you? I believe deep-down we are all born with a desire to be blessed. People who are religious and non-religious, who are spiritual and secular, can't help themselves but talk about either getting a blessing or blessing someone else. When someone sneezes what do we say? ''Bless you!'' Traditionally, when a man wants to marry a woman, he goes to the father to ask his blessing. People from all walks of life feel a desire to ...
