In the past (2) weeks I've traveled to Dallas/Denver to a pastor's meeting and to visit the Anderson's to plan a FCA mission trip for our church this summer. On the return from Dallas, I jumped an earlier flight and found myself sitting by a man who was new in his faith. Throughout the flight he asked me question after question about spiritual things. At the end of our flight, he commented he thought this might've been a Divine appointment. I responded, ''Well since I wasn't supposed to be on this flight, and you weren't supposed to be in your seat - I'm going to go out on a limb and say - ''What do you think?''
Then this week, God put me beside a super nice guy who had little experience concerning spiritual things - but had a number of difficult questions that were obviously holding back his ability to believe in God. Some of his questions were typical like - If God is good, then why is evil, pain, and suffering in the world? But then he asked a few questions I don't typically hear. In particular, one question he asked really made me think. He asked, ''Don't you think it's arrogant of God to want us to serve Him? He said, ''I find it hard to believe in a God who's so arrogant He only wants to rule over me.'' In that moment, I prayed, and God gave me a few questions for his questions.
I asked, ''Do you/your wife have kids? He replied, ''Yes!'' I then asked, ''Why?'' His response was brilliant, ''B/c we thought having kids would bring us great joy and complete our lives. We felt it was our privilege to invest our lives into them to have them grow into responsible, contributing adults.'' I replied, ''As a person created in God's image, I'd say you just answered your own question. BTW - a really cool thing happened at the end of our time, as we were about to land, he reached into the seatback in front of him, and by chance (coincidence/Divine intervention) he found a ...
