If you have your Bibles with you now, if you will be finding your place, one more time, at Genesis chapter number 28. Genesis chapter number 28; tonight we're picking up where we left off last week. Here in this tremendous story is one of those familiar, beloved stories, the story of Jacob's Ladder, that we began last Sunday night. Now, if you were here last Sunday night, and you can remember that far back - you know, that older I get, the more I realize that when you sleep you lose stuff. Can I get an amen?
Somebody says, ''Well, I used to remember that, but then I slept and now I have forgotten it.'' So, if you were here last time, you should remember that we began last time looking down through verse 14 and verse 15. We began by talking about Jacob's problem. We saw last time that Jacob had problems at home, if you will remember. We saw also that Jacob had problems in his heart, if you remember. And as we move from Jacob's problem to begin looking at, last time, Jacob's picture. Look there, beginning in verse 12. We'll just pick up here tonight, and get our hearts and minds all going in the same direction. If you are in Genesis 28, and verse 12, say ''Amen.''
Genesis 28, verse 12. The Bible says this about Jacob, ''Then he dreamed a dream, and behold a ladder was set up on the Earth, and its top reached to Heaven. There, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.'' If you were here last time, you will remember that, as we began to look and study there about that ladder, we learned several things that Jacob learned. We learned that really, that picture there in Genesis 28 is a picture of none other than the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Jesus said in John, chapter 1, verse 51, ''Most assuredly I say to you, hereafter you shall see Heaven open and the angels of God descending and ascending upon the Son of Man.''
