Mark 14:53-15:32
Many times in our culture we have seen people go on trial for a crime and if its high profile ... everything gets aired. If you did it... it comes out. People are saying all kinds of things... he stole my popsicle in 3rd grade, I knew he was a thief! Here we see Jesus Christ, the Son of God, on trial. We are going to see him accused of things he did not do, mocked, beaten, crucified. How will he respond? What will he do? We will learn some things about Jesus and what will come out about him in these trials? What skeletons are in his closets? -- You learn a lot about people under pressure... what will we learn about Jesus?
This section if full of irony. In particular this morning I want you to see that while Jesus in on trial so is everyone else here... and he's passing... they are failing. And while people judged Jesus... he's going to judge the world... while they declared him guilty... we are the guilty... and while they mocked him for not saving himself it is we who need saving. As we see the trial of Jesus this morning the real questions is our own trial before him.. our accountability... our guilt... our need of rescue. So whether you know Christ or not this morning... realize... the Lamb of God is the King of the world... and the one whom we must all give an account.

14:53-72- The Jewish Trials- Annas, then Caiaphas, morning with whole council (3)
Jesus has been arrested. Mark picks up with them leading Jesus to the High Priest, which would have been Caiaphas. Before this they took him to Annas the prior High Priest who likely still held a lot of power. Now Jesus stands before the current HP.
Notice the irony throughout the passage. Here Jesus who Hebrews tells us is the Great High Priest is standing before the high priest of that day...
They do not have a case on Jesus so they make one up. Jesus is innocen ...
