OPENING ILLUSTRATION: The year was 1992 - for you teenagers that was back in the Bible times.
Now keep in mind, our home was in the middle of grove of huge trees situated in the middle of a Charolette Cattle Ranch.
My parents were going to take their first trip without me, and leave me at home alone and they gave me explicit instructions that I was not to tell anyone they were gone.
In those days in the fall of the year about 12 of us guys and girls would get together and roll yards with toilet paper. Again, this was back in bible times... so don't emulate your Pastor. I will NOT bail you out.
Well when time came around to roll yards this particular Friday night, I told them that I couldn't go this time. They wanted to know why, but I couldn't tell them. Well somehow they surmised that I was going to be home alone. And guess whose yard they decided to roll that night?
Well at the Football game that Friday night, my best friend Brock Nix did what friends do, he gave me a heads up that my yard was on the, ''hit list''.
So, I stayed awake, I stayed alert... I knew that if anyone came into my yard that my dogs would bark... and boy did I have a plan. It was like HOME ALONE Redneck style...
Around 12:30 that night, I heard the dogs start to bark. I knew they were there. I peeked out the blinds of my house and sure enough, rolls of toilet paper were flying through the sky.
Now let me say once again... I don't think anyone should follow my example here... this was back in the Bible times, the horse and buggy days... and it was waaaayyyy out in the country where people didn't know any better... are we clear?
When I saw they were rolling my yard... I grabbed my 12 Remington shotgun, slipped out the back door. And in the darkness of that night I stood in the middle of 12 students from Lawrence County Highschool... Pointed my ...
