The Lion King came out this week. Has anyone seen it? We haven't seen it yet, but my kids love The Lion King. The Lion King is one of the movies that we have onDVD, and so there have been times when it has basically been on loop-cycle in our Chrysler Town and Country. I have seen the Lion King, but I have actually listened to the movie even more as I have been driving, and the kids have been watching it in the back. I guess the new movie follows the story of the Disney cartoon, but at one point the main character Simba, who is the heir to the throne, finds himself living a deadbeat life with two hippie-like animals named Pumba and Timon. He hears that there is major trouble back in the Kingdom, but he is kind of hiding out living in the jungle, taking it easy, and enjoying life with these two guys, and he doesn't want to go back. He wants to take it easy. He had been hurt back at Pride Rock, his homeland, and he is both ashamed and afraid to return. Then, in a dream, his dad Mufasa comes to him and basically says, ''Remember who you are. You are the rightful King. Remember who you are.'' This theme ''remember who you are'' kind of runs through the whole movie, and that is kind of exactly what Peter is saying here in 1 Peter 1 and 2 to these Christians. ''Guys, remember who you are.''
So, in chapter 1, he explains to them the new birth and how the gospel is so dramatic. You see, becoming a Christian isn't like joining a club or starting a new job or even getting married. It is more dramatic than any of that. It is a new birth out of this world of sin and death and to a world of eternal life and righteousness and to an inheritance that is imperi ...
