Introduction

1. Whenever the Olympic Games are held you can always count on two things that will happen. You will see the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. I can't even imagine training for four solid years - practically every day all day and then having your chance at Olympic fame by winning a medal and then losing it not because you weren't good enough, but because you weren't watching where you were going.

2. Teresa Stadlober, a cross-country skier from Austria, was well on her well to a silver medal in Korea and a mental hiccup cost her a spot on the podium, but it did earn her a place in Olympic history.

3. With seven kilometers left in a 30 kilometer race, well on her way to the prized silver medal, she turned right on a downhill slope while the rest of the skiers went left. By the time she realized her mistake and corrected her course, instead of finishing in second place, she finished in eighth. No medal, but a lot of unwanted famed. You can hear the agony in her words when she explained what happened, ''I don't know, I really don't know. I took the wrong way - and I did this twice. The second-time I wasn't sure anymore. I had a blackout. I don't know why I took the wrong way.'' [1]

4. The good news is her wrong turn only cost her a medal, but wrong turns can cost you a marriage, your health, your job, and even your life. We are in a series we are calling, ''The Right Turn.'' Last week, we talked about how to make the right turn so you can live right. Today, I want to talk to you about making the right turn so you can die right. The reason I believe this series is so very important is because there are two things that are true of every human being who was ever come into this world - you live and you die.
