The Word of the Lord

If you were with us last week, we started the second section or the second Act of our study of the book of Genesis, and we discovered a few things about God and what He is doing on earth, and of course, these patterns that begin in Genesis 12 are seen throughout the rest of the Bible. So, first we saw that God was and is establishing a people through whom He will make himself known. How is God going to make His character, power, and beauty known on earth? It is primarily through a people…His people.

Secondly, we learned that according to God’s plan, this people, even though they were to be separate and distinct from the world, would be a blessing not just to a few but to every family on earth. The impact of this people would be global. Thirdly, we learned that God’s power, character, and beauty are made known through this people when they respond to Him in faith…the kind of faith that produces action. Of course, we said that you are those people if you are in Christ; you are the people that God has called; you are the people through whom God is going to make Himself known to the whole world. When we, as well as people just like us, respond to God with faith and obedience, we join in the drama of scripture. We join in with the story of scripture in making God known to the ends of the earth.
