If you have your Bibles with you now tonight, will you be finding your place back at Genesis 25. It has been a while since we've been in this beginning book in your Bible. Tonight we come to verses 12-18. As I mentioned a moment ago, tonight we're going to be looking at, learning about, the generations of Ishmael. Let's read these verses together tonight and then we will jump right into the evening's message. Genesis 25, beginning in verse number 12. When you find your way there, say ''amen.''
The Bible says, beginning in verse number 12, ''12 Now this is the genealogy of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's maidservant, bore to Abraham. 13And these were the names of the sons of Ishmael, by their names, according to their generations: The firstborn of Ishmael, Nebajoth; then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15Hadar, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. 16These were the sons of Ishmael and these were their names, by their towns and their settlements, twelve princes according to their nations. 17These were the years of the life of Ishmael: one hundred and thirty-seven years; and he breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his people. 18(They dwelt from Havilah as far as Shur, which is east of Egypt as you go toward Assyria.) He died in the presence of all his brethren.''
Here you have a really unique little interlude, really. As you will remember, the last time we were together, we noticed that Abraham died and was buried. It's an amazing thing to think about when you remember the words of John Wesley. John Wesley says, ''God buries his workmen and carries on his work.'' That's exactly what we find as you come here to verse 12 of Genesis chapter number 25. Abraham has died, and in between Abraham and Isaac we're reminded, we have recorded for us really, the life and legacy, the lineage we're talking about tonight, of this man by ...
