Abraham's Matrimony (44 of 64)
Series: The Book of Beginnings

Genesis 25
If you have your Bibles with you now this evening, will you be finding your place at Genesis 25. Tonight, what I want to do is just very quickly, to talk about ending well. How many of you all want to end well? Can I see your hands? One of these days you're going to die. If Jesus doesn't return, you're going to die. I don't know about you, but I want to end well. Heard about a guy one day, he was talking about dying and he said, ''You know,'' he said, ''I don't mind dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens.'' We talk about that, and maybe death is not that funny, but I don't know that it has to be morbid. I don't know that it has to be something that is very gloomy and depressing. Tonight, what I want to do is just talk about, really, how you intend to live until you die. What's going to be the condition of your mind and your heart when death comes for you? How are you going to spend your days leading up to that day when you draw your last breath?
One of the sad things that I've seen as a pastor over the years is there are those people who, really, they died a long time before they were buried. You know what I'm talking about? I mean, I know a lot of people that really, for all intents and purposes, they died in their 40s and they were buried in their 70s. I don't know about you, but I don't want to be that kind of guy. I don't want to be a guy who died before my time. I don't want to be a guy who says, ''You know, man, it's all over. The better days of my life are gone. I've got nothing more to look forward to the rest of my life.'' Look right here, there's a great, big fancy Greek word for that, bologna. Bologna.
I don't want to embarrass Brother Richard, but I'm going to be honest with you. When I'm Brother Richard's age or many other people in this room, I want to be like that; still sharing the gospel, still winning people to Jesus, still seeing people ...
