OPERATION ANDREW
(JOHN 1: 40 - 42)
JESUS CHRIST launched His earthly ministry by calling people to
follow Him. Among the first was a man named Andrew.
Andrew was a disciple of John the Baptist. He was there when
Jesus came to be baptized and heard John say, "Behold, the Lamb
of God who takes away the sin of the world." Andrew and another
unnamed disciple followed Jesus. They camped together that
night. A new day dawned for Andrew with the coming of morning.
He was now a disciple of Jesus.
Andrew in turn immediately reached out to his brother Simon
Peter. When he found Peter he happily told him, "We have found
the Messiah." And he brought him to Jesus.
That was the lifestyle of Andrew. Virtually every time we
encounter him in Scripture he is bringing someone to Jesus.
Once Jesus was teaching in a remote area and the large crowd
needed to be fed. While other disciples despaired Andrew brought
a lad with "five barley loaves and two small fish" to Jesus
(6:9).
