Can You Hear Me Now? (2 of 7)
Series: Foundations and Pillars
Jeff Ecklund
John 10:27
The new foundation of our life is Jesus. After the foundation of a house has been laid, there are support beams, pillars if you will that are necessary.
Elementary things, but important things that are built.
That is what this series is about.
Last week was focused on the Word of God.
2 Timothy 3:16 (ESV)
16All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
You and I were created to operate best in an atmosphere and life that hears God.
We were created and exist for relationship with a living, loving God!
And when you love someone, you want to communicate with them.
Relationships are healthy when there is communication.
When my wife and I met, we spent hours on the phone. I loved the sound of her voice. When I call her now, or she calls me there is no need to ask ''who is this''? Communication with God builds experience in the heart of our relationship with Him. God becomes no longer a distant divine entity. He wants to walk with us, talk with us, and share His dreams with us. God wants you to know His voice in that relationship.
Sin entered the world through the disobedience of Adam and the first thing Adam did was ''hide'' from the sound of God walking in the garden. (people are still hiding from God!)
The Bible is the primary way that God speaks to me. It is also the measuring rod to all the other ways that God speaks.
I want to talk this morning about some of the other ways that God speaks. To expand on the understanding of this pillar in our life, so to speak.
Hebrews 1:1-2 (ESV)
1Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets,
2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world.
